Research in our lab focuses on watershed hydrology and flood hazard and risk under rapidly changing anthropogenic conditions. This research is interdisciplinary and collaborative by nature. Some of our current projects involve modeling compound flooding in the coastal zone in North Carolina, urban flooding and its impact on urban infrastructure in Houston, Texas, and the systemic financial risks associated with flooding. We also work on issues related to risk quantification, visualization, and communication. Much of our research is computational in nature, utilizing watershed-scale hydrologic and hydraulic models, as well as geographic information systems (GIS) and spatial analytical and statistical tools.
